Martinsh Egle (Latvian: Mārtiņš Egle, born January 9, 1980 in Tukums) is a Latvian mixed martial artist who competes in the heavyweight division of various European mixed martial arts (MMA) promotions. In this time he has seven wins and seven loses and one draw.

Biography

Martinsh grew up in Kandava and went to local school. He started to train mixed martial arts in Jelgava in age 22, and his debut in MMA was after three months of training against UFC and PRIDE veteran David Baron. His first trainer was well known Latvian MMA fighter Edmunds Kirsis (He in year 2002 won Badr Hari). He also two years lived and trained in Holland. His training partner was famous K-1 fighter Ashwin Balrak. In year 2008 Martinsh participate in 2008 World Sambo Championships, in St. Petersburg, Russia where he got place 7. He needed to fight for bronze medal with Zarif Rasulov of Uzbekistan, but there was some mistake and Egle was disqualified from bronze medal fight.

Career

Egle made his professional debut in the World Full Contact Association (WFCA), fighting against Nick Struve at "Latvia vs. Holland". In this fight Martinsh lost. Egle currently is ranked as #1 Latvian Heavyweight Mixed Martial Artist by WFCA ratings. On 21 November 2009 Egle needed to meet with UFC veteran Mario Neto of Brazil. But the fight was canceled one hour before fight, because Mario was injured. Last fight Martinsh had in fight show "WFCA-Fight Club vol.10" in Tukums where he fight tie with MMA fighter from Lithuania Tomas Pakutinskas.
